Properties
The Properties section holds everything your website publishes: listings, and the projects, areas and cities that organise them. The lists behind the forms (property types, amenities, cities, areas) live under Settings, Properties.
Listing types
A listing is one of three types. Your company switches on the types it uses; a type that is off does not appear in the admin or on the website.
| Type | Used for | Extra fields |
|---|---|---|
| Sale | A property for sale | Completion (ready or off_plan) and the handover date for off-plan |
| Lease | A property to let, long term | None |
| Holiday home | A short-stay property | Maximum guests |
When you press Add, you choose the type first: Holiday home, Property for rent or Property for sale (the types your company has). The form that follows shows only that type’s sections and fields, the extra ones above included, with the price period that fits: per night for a holiday home, per year (or per month) for a lease, a total for a sale. The type is shown, not chosen again.
Listing status
Every listing has one of four statuses. The table shows where each status can go.
| From | To |
|---|---|
| Draft | Published |
| Published | Hidden, Withdrawn |
| Hidden | Published, Withdrawn |
| Withdrawn | Published |
- Draft is where a new listing starts. It is not on the website.
- Published is live on the website.
- Hidden takes the listing off the website entirely. Use it for a pause, for example while the owner decides.
- Withdrawn also takes it off the website, but keeps its address: a visitor with an old link learns the listing is gone. Publishing a withdrawn property again keeps the same address.
The first publication time stays with the listing when you publish it again. Every status change is recorded in the history.
The Listings screen filters by type, status, area, project and featured, and searches by reference and title. Select several listings to publish, hide or withdraw them together; the same rules apply as for one. A “Needs work” filter finds live listings without a map position or a ready photo, and listings with a refused photo. Everyone who may see listings sees them; publishing needs the publish permission on your role.
List, Grid and Map
Above the table, a strip shows your listings by status (published, draft, hidden, withdrawn) with each one’s share, then all your listings and how many you have of each type: holiday homes, sales and leases. The Grid and Map views show the same strip, and each figure filters the view you are on. The list also shows each listing’s city, the city of its area, and filters by it.
The icons beside Filters switch between three views of the same listings:
- List: the table, 25 listings a page. A click anywhere on a row opens the listing.
- Grid: a photo card per listing with its price, bedrooms, bathrooms and size, 24 a page.
- Map: the listings that have a map position, with their price on each marker. Clicking a marker also opens the listing in a panel beside the map: its photos, type and status, where it is, a few lines about it (Read more shows the rest), bedrooms, size and guests or bathrooms, its amenities, its price, and Open the listing (and Calendar for a holiday home). Close it with its button or Escape.
In Grid and Map, the search box finds a reference or a title, and Filters opens the same panel as the list: the listing type as three cards (sale, lease, holiday home), status, area, property type, bedrooms, amenities, featured, the order, and the price range as a slider between your lowest and highest prices.
The menu at the end of each row (⋮) holds Copy link: the listing’s address on your website goes to the clipboard, ready to share or to put in a social media profile. Only a published listing has one, and your website’s address must be set under Settings, Company, Branding. The link is in the language you are using.
The fields that matter
A listing’s page opens with a header card: its title and status, its price with when it was published or last changed, where it is, and Type and Property type you change right there (a type that needs more first, such as a sale’s ready or off-plan, is set in the form for you to fill in and save). Its owner sits on the line below. Then one bar of tabs: Listing, Photos, Location and Description (the texts in every language) first, then Details (bedrooms, size, amenities) and the other groups of fields below and the other lists, then History. Under its own fields, the Listing tab shows the photos as a mosaic (click one, or View all, to open Photos) beside the location: a map of the position with Open in Google Maps, where it is and how exact the position is. One tab shows at a time, and Save keeps every tab’s changes; a tab with a mistake shows how many. Copy link, View on the website and, for a holiday home, Calendar are on the card.
| Group | Fields |
|---|---|
| Identity | reference (made by Majali when you save, unique in your company, shown and never typed), one slug per language |
| Text | title, summary, description, each in English and Arabic |
| Location | area (required), project (optional), map position, location_precision |
| Property | property_type, bedrooms, bathrooms, size with its unit (m², sqm or sq ft, chosen on each listing; m² and sqm are both square metres), amenities |
| Price | price_amount, price_currency, price_period (night, month, year or total) |
| Compliance | advertising_permit_no, holiday_home_permit_no |
| Website | featured, and the order you drag listings into (sort_order) |
English is required. Where Arabic is empty, the website shows the English text. If your plan includes translation, “Save and translate” fills the other language after each save; you can still edit the result.
Adding or changing a listing is one page: every section stacked under its heading (Listing, Text in English then Arabic, Property, Location, Price and permits, Owner and stay, Availability, Publishing), small fields two to a row and long ones across. Reading a listing you may not change shows the same sections as tabs.
In Owner and stay, a holiday home carries its commission (the company’s share of each stay’s nights) and a property for rent its fee on rent (the default of each new lease). Left empty, the rate the owner already had applies, if any.
Photos
Upload photos in the listing’s Photos section, drag them into order, and give each one alt text in English and Arabic. The first photo is the cover on the website; a listing without photos has no cover.
What happens to a photo once you upload it:
- Camera metadata and the GPS position are removed.
- Web copies are made at several widths, in WebP and JPEG, for fast pages.
- The original is stored in the file storage your company connected (for example Google Drive). Until storage is connected, photos cannot be uploaded and a warning says so.
- Web copies of published listings are served publicly; originals are never public.
Your company can set a quality bar: a minimum number of photos and a minimum photo width, each either a warning or a block when you publish.
Location and precision
The Location section has a map. Click it, or drag the pin, to fill the latitude and longitude; typing the numbers moves the pin. “Remove the position” clears it. A position is optional, and the map opens around your other listings while a listing has none.
Set location_precision to exact when the pin marks the property, or approximate when it only marks the neighbourhood. The website gets exact coordinates only for exact locations.
Permits
The advertising permit number is the number your market’s authority issues for advertising a property, where one exists (Madhmoun in Abu Dhabi, Trakheesi in Dubai). Your company’s rules decide whether it is required before a sale or lease listing is published; the Abu Dhabi starter pack turns that on, and publishing without it is then refused with a clear message. The number is passed to your website so it can be shown on the listing.
The holiday-home permit number is the holiday home’s licence from the tourism authority (DCT in Abu Dhabi). Under the Abu Dhabi rules it is required before a holiday home is published, since no holiday home may be advertised without it; elsewhere it is optional. Your website shows it on the home’s page.
Price visibility
Prices stay private unless you choose otherwise. In the Price and permits section, “Show the price on the website” is off by default and can only be turned on when the listing has a price. While it is off, the website receives no price at all for that listing: no figure, no price filter, no price sort. The price stays editable in the admin.
Featured and order
Tick featured to let the website put a listing first or in a featured block. Drag listings by their handle on the Listings list to set their order (sort_order), which the website uses when it sorts by it; a new listing goes last. The website can also sort by newest.
Slugs and the website path
A slug is made from the title in each language when you first save, and you can edit it. Once the listing is published, its slugs are fixed, so links keep working. The website path follows your company’s pattern per language, by default /en/listings/{slug} and /ar/listings/{slug}. Both languages’ slugs find the same listing.
Listings from listing requests
When an owner sends a listing request from your website, the lead’s page offers “Create a listing”. The listing form opens as a draft filled from the answers the owner gave (purpose, area, property type, bedrooms, bathrooms, size, price); answers that do not fit stay on the lead. Saving links the two: the listing records the lead’s reference as its source. The owner’s name and contact details stay on the lead and never reach the listing. See CRM.
Importing listings from Excel
Import on the Listings screen brings many listings in at once from an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file, at most 300 rows and 5 MB.
- Download the template. Its first sheet has one column per field. Its second sheet lists your company’s own types, areas, property types and amenities, with the size units, price periods and other choices. Column titles can be in English or Arabic.
- Fill one row per property. The type, the English title and the area are required. Names match in English or Arabic; separate amenities with commas. Unit, permit and reference numbers stay text, so leading zeros are kept. The owner column takes an existing owner’s email or phone.
- Check the file. Every row is shown before anything is created: ready, ready with something to know (a permit needed before publishing, an owner not found), or not imported, with the reason (an unknown area or property type, a wrong number, a reference already imported).
- Create the drafts. The ready rows become drafts in one go, with Excel as their source and your reference. Add their photos, then publish them one by one, under the usual rules.
The import never creates areas, projects, property types, amenities or owners: add them in Settings first. A row whose reference was already imported is skipped, so a corrected file can be uploaded again. Importing needs its own permission (Super Administrators, Administrators, Managers and Content editors by default).
Projects
A project (or building) is the optional third level under an area. It has a bilingual name, a slug per language, a sort order and a visible flag. Use projects when buyers search by tower or community name.
Areas and cities
Locations form a hierarchy: city, then area or community, then project. Every listing needs an area; the project is optional.
An area has a name and a slug per language, an optional short description in both languages, an optional image, a sort order and a visible flag. The website shows visible areas and projects with their count of published listings per type, so empty areas stay out of the filters until they have stock.
Drag rows by their handle to reorder cities, areas and projects; the order is saved as soon as you drop a row. Your company may start with a starter set of cities and well-known communities for its region; edit, hide or extend it as you like.
Property types and amenities
Property types and amenities are your company’s own lists, bilingual and ordered. Removing a type or amenity that listings still use is refused; take it off those listings first, or leave it in the list.
